Bridget Mary Downey was born in the family home - a farm in Lickbarrahan, West Cork - on January 26th, 1908.  She was baptized on February 1st in the Roman Catholic Chapel, at Chapel Cross, Cappyaughna, Glengarriff. Bridget's nickname was Bridie. Both of Bridie's parents, Michael & Dora, were from Glengarriff.

Dora Downing (née Lynch)

Born March 2nd, 1871 in Cappyaughna, was the daughter of Michael Lynch and Dora Gough. The Lynches owned the Pub at Chapel Cross in Cappyaughna, Glengarriff. The specific building has yet to be identified.
